Fitting Solway panels
Fitting instructions
We don't supply an instruction manual with the panels, the reason for that is we don't fit them all at once when we build own conversions, there is a few tips that we can give you on fitting the panels but we thinks it's best to call us and someone can talk you through it in detail.
tips
1: Always fit panel #17 before you finish your ceiling.
2: Cut the 2 inch drop off the black plastic shelf above the cab headlining before fitting panel #1.
3: Remove the inside side door handle and cable when fitting the side door top, panel #5 then feed the cable through the whole in the panel and refit the handle on top of the panel.
4: When fitting the wall panels, line the highest point of the panel in line with the lowest point of the rectangle wholes on the angled bit where the roof meets the side walls, except from panel #10, that will sit around 8-10mm down on the top left so on the eye it will be running down to the left, the reason for this is so the left hand edge of the panel sits tight to the B pillar panel #3.
5: When cutting the panels we find it best to use a jig saw or on smaller cuts a multi tool, when using a jigsaw we use a heavy toothed blade with the teeth pointing up the way and if your saw has a setting to make the blade go slightly side to side when cutting this will give you a wider and cleaner cut.
6: We use 7-10mm van liner then 50mm insulation fleece behind the panels, anything more than that could push the panels out in places.
7: Our ceiling is around 10mm thick off the metal roof supports, 10mm is perfect for the panel above the cab shelf panel #1, if your ceiling is thicker panel #1 can be cut or planed down.
